Have a great summer, JTSD families! See you in August!
Mrs. Witherspoon is asking us for help!
Our JTSD Gardens will still need some TLC over Summer Break while everyone is away! The Going Green team needs volunteers to visit JTSD once weekly to lend a hand in the Gardens and Greenhouse! You don't have to commit to every week! Even helping for a day or two here and there helps so much! Plus, when you come to volunteer, whatever produce is harvested is yours to keep!!
Please note that the first day of volunteer work is coming up quickly: next Wednesday, July 1.
Read the information directly from Mrs. Witherspoon below:
"We decided to host a work day each Wednesday when we will be out of school. Our meeting time will be 7:30-9:30am. We have a list of "to do's" and should have most of the materials ready to go; however, we will need a weedeater each week. On the sign up sheet, I listed this need.
There will be at least one representative from our team there and ready to help facilitate. We are excited to partner with our families during this time! Some items we have on our list are as follows:
1. Kill off the Johnson Grass that continues to grow in the upper beds.
2. Stay on top of weeding the beds
3. Maintain the greenhouse towers by ensuring they have water covering the pump
4. Collecting Produce
5. Weedeating around the beds
Thank you in advance!"
Find some gloves, bring the kids, and let's get our hands dirty keeping our Gardens healthy!
Check back in August for more Going Green updates!
